Fruit of the Spirit: Beginning of a Series

Galatians 5:22-23 – But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance (patience), kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. (NIV)

In this section of Galatians, the author is talking about walking in the Spirit vs. walking in the flesh. We were not called to have the desires of the flesh, but of the Spirit. What we refer to as the Fruit of the Spirit is the way we are to live. These characteristics is the way we are meant to live. If we look at these characteristics, we can see that this fruit is meant to be good fruit that will help bring us the goodness that was originally meant to be before Adam and Eve ate the fruit from the garden. When you really look at it, these characteristics is what Christians are supposed to have. These characteristics are how we are to treat God, ourselves, and others. I will post more specifically on how that is the case for each specific fruit as I continue with this series.

Anyways, feel free to look for ways in your life on what you think you can improve on being fruitful. I know even I have some work that I have to do on being fruitful.

Feel free to comment on what you think of this post and what you would like to me explain about the Fruit of the Spirit.

  1. When you plant a seed you do not see fruit right away. Many people think that bringing others to Christ should be an instantaneous event. Expressing those characteristics and fruits of the spirit while cultivating trusting relationships with unbelievers will bear more fruit than handing out a pamphlet or making a donation.
